S275JR steel is a readily weldable low carbon manganese steel with good impact resistance. S275JR steel sheet/plate is commonly supplied in the untreated or normalized condition. Machinability of S275JR steel sheet/plate is similar to that of mild steel.

The meaning of S275JR steel sheet/plate:
"S" is short for structural steel;
"275" refers to the minimum yield strength (MPa) for the steel thickness ≤ 16mm;
"JR" indicates the quality grade related to charpy impact test energy values (27J, tested at room temperature 20℃);
1.0044 is the steel number of S275JR.
